We all have them: water stains, scuff marks, tarnished suede – in a nutshell, we’re all plagued by boots that no longer look like they did when we bought them. Luckily, we’re showing you three easy ways to clean your shoes, no matter what they’re suffering from. Watch now to find out how to clean them at home and save a trip to the cobbler (as well as some cash)!

Tip: Protect your new boots with a water repellant spray or lotion.

Cleaning Water & Dirt Stains

  1. Before you start cleaning, allow your water stain to dry completely.
  2. Dampen a towel and rub it all over your shoe. Do this until all dirt has been wiped away.
  3. Apply a commercial leather cleaner accordingly.
  4. Taking a different cloth, rub in the leather cleaner.
  5. Polish your shoe using leather polish in the same color. Set aside to dry.
  6. Apply leather conditioner.

Erasing Scuff Marks

  1. Rub on the scuffed area using a damp towel.
  2. Dip the damp towel into baking soda. “Exfoliate” the scuff.
  3. Wipe off the excess baking soda.
  4. Polish your shoe using leather polish in the same color.

Cleaning Suede Shoes

  1. Taking a suede cleansing block, rub it back and forth on the stain. (Press hard if needed.)
  2. Wipe off the excess residue.
